Preschool Teacher - Experienced Floater

The role

You keep every classroom running at full strength. As our experienced floater, you step into any room, from infants to preschoolers, and the day doesn't miss a beat.

This is not a substitute role. It's the most versatile teaching job in the building. You cover breaks and absences, keep ratios in compliance, and lead lessons in our performing arts curriculum when a lead teacher is out.

Building Kidz of New Port Richey is a performing arts based preschool. Music, dance, and theater are how our children learn, plus two Broadway-style shows a year.

What you'll do

• Cover classrooms for breaks, lunches, absences, and planned time off, across infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
• Keep every room within Florida DCF ratio and supervision requirements, every minute of the day
• Run the posted lesson plan when you step in, including dance, music, theater, and LTLE (Learning Through Life Experiences) activities
• Step in as acting lead teacher when needed, so families see no drop in quality
• Handle the routines safely: transitions, meals, nap, diapering, and pickup
• Give lead teachers a short handoff on anything that happened while you covered
• Greet families warmly and log daily notes in our family app
• Flag safety, behavior, or ratio issues to the Director right away
• Help with rehearsals and our twice-yearly shows

Required

• One or more years teaching in a licensed early childhood classroom, ideally across more than one developmental stage
• Florida DCF 45-hour introductory child care training complete, or finishing within 90 days of hire
• Able to pass a Level 2 background screening
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to lift 40 pounds, sit on the floor, and keep up with active children all day

Nice to have (apply even without these)

• CDA or Florida Staff Credential
• Infant and toddler experience
• Pediatric CPR and First Aid (we'll certify you if not)
• A background in music, dance, or theater
• Bilingual English and Spanish

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
