Preschool Teacher

Job description:

We are looking for a qualified Preschool Teacher to prepare young children for kindergarten by helping them build the foundational skills they need to succeed. This includes developing social skills and following directions. A preschool teacher creates a structured yet nurturing and safe environment for all children. You will work under the supervision of the preschool director and maintain consistent communication. Qualifications needed to teach children effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and provide meaningful experiences. Our goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of each child and to help meet their individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop intentional and creative weekly lesson plans appropriate for preschool children using the Houghton Mifflin Curriculum
• Create a loving, safe and faith-based environment
• Employ a variety of learning domains such as; educational play, oral language development, math, science, music & movement
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other teach them to share toys/materials
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through meaningful experiences and activities (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
• Organize nap, serve snack/lunch and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
• Track children’s progress by conducting student assessments and parent conferences
• Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
• Collaborate and communicate well with co-teachers and all staff
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Skills

• Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher
• Proficient in English, excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Excellent communication and instructional skills
• Assist children and help them to problem solve
• Warm, nurturing, positive attitude
• Ability to work with director and other staff
• Flexible with work schedule and willing to adapt to meet the needs of the program
• Flexible and willing to attend courses, workshops, etc. to update and refresh your knowledge
• Certification in Pediatric CPR & First Aid
• 12 ECE units (minimum)
• Updated Immunizations & TB Test
• Updated Mandated Reporter Training

Job Type: Part-time & Full-time

Work Location: In person

Pay: $18.50 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 per week
