Love babies, toddlers, and being part of all those BIG little milestones?

Roselyn North Academy is looking for warm, energetic, and dependable Early Childhood Teachers to join our Freeport team.

If you're the person who can't resist making a baby smile, loves watching toddlers discover something new, and understands that sometimes the biggest accomplishment of the day is a first step, a new word, or finally getting everyone to nap at the same time—we may have the job for you.

Working with babies, toddlers and preschoolers is busy, hands-on, sometimes messy, and definitely never boring. But it's also incredibly rewarding.

You get to be there for so many of their firsts.

Your Days Will Be Full of Little Moments That Are Actually Pretty Big

You might spend your day...

  • Snuggling and comforting a baby who needs a little extra love.
  • Singing songs, reading books, and getting down on the floor to play.
  • Creating sensory experiences and activities for curious little hands.
  • Encouraging tummy time, crawling, first steps, language, and independence.
  • Hearing a new word and getting almost as excited about it as their parents do.
  • Helping a toddler navigate some very big feelings in a very little body.
  • Going outside to explore, play, and discover.
  • Building predictable routines that help children feel safe and secure.
  • Celebrating milestones with families.
  • Laughing with coworkers about something that could only happen in a room full of toddlers.

Of course, there are bottles, diapers, meals, naps, cleaning, documentation, and plenty of responsibility too. Caring for babies and toddlers is important work, and we're looking for people who understand just how much these early years matter.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

  • Babies naturally seem to find their way into your arms.
  • You genuinely enjoy the toddler stage—BIG personalities included.
  • You're nurturing, patient, playful, and affectionate.
  • You're comfortable getting on the floor and being active throughout the day.
  • You understand that crying and challenging behavior are a part of how children communicate
  • You're dependable. Babies, toddlers, and your teaching team need consistency.
  • You can stay calm when several little people need you at once.
  • You're flexible and can laugh when the day doesn't go exactly according to plan.
  • You want to work somewhere where you can learn, grow, and feel like part of a team.

New to Early Childhood Education? That's Okay.

Experience is definitely a plus, but you don't necessarily need years of classroom experience to be a great infant or toddler teacher.

Maybe you've been a nanny, babysitter, camp counselor, classroom helper, or the person everyone trusts with their baby.

Or maybe you simply know that working with little ones is your thing.

If you bring the right energy, reliability, and heart for children, we can help you develop your skills and grow as an early childhood educator.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Early Childhood Education coursework or a degree is a plus.

CPR/First Aid certification is required or must be obtained after hire, inhouse certification opportunities are available.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As part of your teaching team, you'll:

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
  • Build strong, responsive relationships with each child.
  • Plan and participate in age-appropriate play and learning experiences.
  • Support feeding, bottles, diapering, naps, toileting, and other daily routines.
  • Encourage physical, language, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Maintain attentive supervision and required staff-to-child ratios.
  • Keep your classroom clean, organized, and welcoming.
  • Communicate with families about their child's day, development, and milestones.
  • Follow Maine childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements.
  • Work together with your teaching team and jump in when someone needs help.
