Job Description

Neffs UCC Preschool is seeking a warm, dependable Lead Preschool Teacher for our young 3-year-old classroom.

Please read the schedule carefully before applying: This is a small, part-time, school-year position working:

• Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
• Fridays, 12:00–2:00 PM for paid planning and collaboration
• Approximately 10 hours per week
• September through May

This position pays $18 per hour and is not expected to become full-time. It may be especially well suited to a retired educator, former teacher returning to the classroom, parent seeking limited school-day hours, or someone combining two part-time roles.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Lead Teacher who is warm, reliable, and confident in managing a classroom of young children. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, values play-based learning, and can balance structure with flexibility throughout the day.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a classroom of young preschoolers in a calm, engaging, and responsive way
• Plan developmentally appropriate, play-based activities aligned with Pennsylvania’s Early Learning Standards
• Support children’s social-emotional development and guide behavior positively and consistently
• Work closely with an assistant teacher to maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-run classroom
• Communicate with families warmly and professionally
• Manage daily routines, including classroom setup, cleanup, snack, bathroom routines, and transitions
• Participate in occasional preschool events outside regular classroom hours

What We’re Looking For

• Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field
• At least 18 college credits in Early Childhood Education
• Experience working with young children
• Ability to manage and lead a classroom independently
• Ability to obtain all required Pennsylvania clearances

• Occasional evening, weekend, and summer preschool events may be requested with advance notice
