Waterfront Montessori, a staple of the Paulus Hook and Jersey City community for over 20 years, is seeking a new Head of School to lead us into our third decade and beyond.

Position Overview

Waterfront Montessori is seeking a warm, nurturing, and experienced Infant Teacher to join our Nido program, serving children 6 weeks to 18 months.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with infants and is passionate about creating a safe, peaceful, and engaging environment where young children can thrive.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, responsive care to infants in a nurturing classroom environment
• Support each child's individual development, routines, and emerging independence
• Prepare and maintain a beautiful, safe, and engaging classroom environment
• Observe children and document their development and progress
• Communicate thoughtfully and professionally with families
• Work collaboratively with the classroom team and school administration
• Follow all school health, safety, and licensing policies
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school community events

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with infants and/or young toddlers
• A warm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young children
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Dependable, responsible, and professional
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative classroom environment
• Please hold one or more of the following credentials: Child Development Associate (CDA), Nido/Toddler Montessori Certification, Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred
• Montessori experience or training is a plus, but not required

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (Exact Hours TBD)

Location: Jersey City, NJ (beautiful Paulus Hook section on the Waterfront) conveniently located a few blocks from the Light Rail service and the Path.
