
Infant Teacher Overview
The Infant Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants from birth to approximately 12–13months of age. The Infant Teacher supports each child’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through responsive caregiving, consistent routines, and meaningful interactions. This role emphasizes building secure attachments, meeting individual needs, and partnering closely with families.
Infant Teachers plan and implement age‑appropriate activities that promote early development, including sensory exploration, motor skills, language development, and social awareness. They observe and document infant progress through Teaching Strategies a software system used.
Effective communication is essential to this role. Infant Teachers provide daily updates to families regarding feeding, sleeping, diapering, and developmental milestones. They collaborate with coworkers to ensure consistency of care and contribute positively to a supportive classroom and center culture.
Overall, the Infant Teacher plays a vital role in establishing a strong foundation for lifelong learning by fostering trust, security, and early developmental growth during a child’s earliest years.
