Experienced Daycare Assistant Director

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Childcare Assistant Director who can help support the daily operations of a busy childcare center and work closely with the Center Director to keep things organized, staffed, and running smoothly.

This role is a good fit for someone who already has experience in a childcare center and is comfortable stepping into a leadership position. We are looking for someone who understands classroom operations, staffing, licensing requirements, parent communication, and the day-to-day needs of teachers and children.

The right person will be organized, dependable, hands-on, and ready to take initiative. You should be comfortable supporting staff, solving problems as they come up, and stepping in wherever needed to help the center operate successfully.

There is also room to grow in this role for someone who wants to continue developing their leadership skills and eventually take on more responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Support the Center Director with daily center operations.
• Help oversee teachers, classroom coverage, schedules, and staffing needs.
• Step into classrooms when needed to support ratios and daily operations.
• Help maintain a structured, organized, and positive environment throughout the center.
• Support teachers with classroom concerns, behavior management, and daily routines.
• Help monitor staff attendance, training, certifications, and required documentation.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
• Communicate professionally with parents and families.
• Help maintain compliance with state licensing requirements and center policies.
• Monitor classroom ratios, attendance, and staffing throughout the day.
• Assist with maintaining staff and child records.
• Help address day-to-day issues and make sure concerns are handled in a timely manner.
• Support the Director with center events, enrollment needs, inspections, and other operational responsibilities.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized center.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a licensed daycare, preschool, childcare center, or early learning environment.
• Previous experience in a leadership role such as Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, Program Coordinator, or similar childcare position.
• Strong understanding of childcare center operations and classroom management.
• Knowledge of childcare licensing, classroom ratios, and safety requirements.
• Experience supporting or supervising childcare staff.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Comfortable handling multiple priorities and making decisions when needed.
• Dependable and able to work well with both leadership and classroom staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Childcare Assistant Director.
• 1+ years of childcare leadership experience.
• Director or administrator credentials, certifications, or coursework.
• Experience with staff scheduling, hiring, onboarding, or training.
• Experience working with parents and handling family concerns.
• CPR and First Aid certification.

Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
