Highland Preschool is growing, and we're excited to thoughtfully grow our team alongside it!
As our school community continues to expand, we're looking for thoughtful, engaged, and collaborative educators to join our school community. We are currently hiring a Preschool Classroom Educator and Supporting Educators to support across our program.
About Highland
Highland is a play-based preschool rooted in relationships, social-emotional development, curiosity, connection, and community.
We recognize that there are many meaningful approaches to early childhood education. Rather than following one philosophy, we thoughtfully draw from practices that reflect our values most: relationships, social-emotional development, child-led learning, curiosity, connection, and community.
Children are active participants in their classrooms—not simply recipients of an adult-created curriculum. We take time to understand the individual child, their interests, needs, temperament, relationships, and development, and allow those observations to help shape the classroom experience.
Our environment is an important part of learning. Children spend much of their day outdoors in our large backyard, exploring, creating, getting messy, taking appropriate risks, and discovering what they're capable of. Open-ended materials, imaginative play, and enrichment experiences in art and music offer additional opportunities for expression, creativity, and exploration.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for educators who are curious about children and genuinely enjoy building relationships with them. You do not need to subscribe to one particular educational philosophy, but you should be open to reflection, collaboration, and continuing to grow your practice.
Our educators are expected to observe and respond to individual children’s needs, support social-emotional development, facilitate rather than direct play whenever possible, and approach behavior with curiosity and connection. Strong communication, active supervision, flexibility, reliability, and a willingness to work collaboratively are essential.
We especially value educators who understand that meaningful early childhood education isn’t about creating a picture-perfect classroom. It is about creating a place where children feel safe, known, capable, included, and connected.
Our Team & Community
We are intentionally building the same kind of community for our educators that we want for our children—one where people feel seen, valued, respected, supported, and safe to communicate openly.
We value honest communication, mutual respect, shared responsibility, and educators who are willing to ask questions, offer ideas, receive feedback, and support one another.
Partnership with families is also an important part of our school community. Educators participate in two parent-teacher conferences each year and maintain meaningful communication with families throughout the school year.
Additional opportunities may include Parents’ Night Out, school and community events, enrichment experiences, and optional additional hours.
Interested in Joining Highland?
We believe the people who make up our community are what make Highland so special. We'd love connecting with educators who share our passion for early childhood, bring their own perspectives and experiences, and are excited about growing together as part of the Highland community.
Please share an updated resume and a cover letter that tells us a little about who you are, what led you to early childhood education, and what you love most about working with young children.
We look forward to getting to know you!
