Childcare Center Director — New Jersey

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM–4:30 PM

We are looking for an experienced, caring, and organized Childcare Center Director to lead our center and be the primary point of contact for our staff and families.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working with people, building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and making sure the center runs smoothly and professionally every day.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As Director, you will oversee all aspects of the center involving staff, children, families, and daily operations, including:

• Lead, supervise, and support all childcare center staff
• Hire, train, onboard, and evaluate employees
• Create and manage staff schedules and classroom coverage
• Ensure classrooms are appropriately staffed throughout the day
• Address staff questions, concerns, attendance, performance, and disciplinary matters
• Conduct staff meetings and provide ongoing guidance and support
• Foster a positive, respectful, and professional workplace culture
• Be the primary point of contact for parents and families
• Build strong, positive relationships with enrolled families
• Respond to parent questions, concerns, and feedback
• Handle family communication and resolve issues professionally
• Support families throughout the enrollment and transition process
• Oversee the children's daily experience and overall care environment
• Monitor classrooms and support teachers in maintaining a high-quality program
• Ensure center policies and procedures are followed
• Help maintain compliance with New Jersey childcare licensing requirements
• Handle daily incidents, emergencies, and unexpected situations
• Ensure the center is organized, safe, welcoming, and running efficiently
• Coordinate staff training and professional development
• Work closely with ownership/administration regarding the overall operation of the center

Financial Responsibilities

The Director will not be responsible for:

• Tuition collection or tuition accounts
• Banking
• Bookkeeping/accounting
• Payroll

These responsibilities are handled separately by ownership/administration, allowing the Director to focus on leading the team, supporting families, and overseeing the daily operation of the childcare center.

Pay: $51,500.00 - $62,200.00 per year
