Child Care Floater Assistant Teacher (DCYF Rule 3)

Overview

Join our childcare team as a Child Care Floater, where your energetic and adaptable approach will make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children. This paid position offers the opportunity to work across various classroom settings, providing essential support to lead teachers and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for children of diverse ages. Duties

• Assist in supervising and engaging children during daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
• Support classroom management by implementing age-appropriate activities and facilitating play in both indoor and outdoor environments
• Provide responsive child supervision during playtime, meals, naps, and transitions throughout the day
• Collaborate with lead teachers to implement curriculum plans focused on childhood development
• Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child's progress, behavior, and daily experiences with guidance from lead teachers
• Follow mandated reporting laws to promptly report any concerns related to child safety or well-being
• Support classroom organization, including setting up materials and maintaining a clean, safe environment

Experience

• Prior experience working with children in daycare centers, preschools, babysitting, nannying or similar settings is highly preferred
• Knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development instruction techniques
• Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus
• Certification in pediatric first aid and CPR is required but can be attained after being hired.
• Familiarity with behavior management strategies and classroom management best practices
• Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and support multiple age groups as needed
• Strong communication skills for effective parent interaction and teamwork within a childcare setting
• Ideally Assistant Teacher or Teacher qualified under MN DCYF Rule 3 (more information: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/9503.0033/)

Pay: $16.75 - $21.00 per hour
