About Us

Wild Oak Academy is a locally owned early childhood education program serving children from 6 weeks through 6 years across the Kansas City metro. Our Shawnee center is licensed for 102 children and has just opened new classrooms. We're looking for a Director who wants to lead a growing team and build something great, and potentially further their career with us!

The Role

As Center Director, you'll own the day-to-day success of our Shawnee location. That means running a safe, licensing-ready building, leading and developing a strong staff, building trust with families, and growing enrollment. You'll work closely with our Assistant Director and company leadership, and you'll have real authority to lead.

What You'll Do

• Lead, hire, train, coach, and schedule a team of teachers and support staff
• Keep the center fully compliant with KOEC child care licensing regulations, maintain ratios at all times, and keep files and records inspection-ready
• Oversee curriculum delivery and classroom quality across infant, toddler, preschool, and Pre-K rooms
• Run tours, convert inquiries to enrollments, and manage waitlists to keep classrooms full
• Build strong relationships with families through clear, consistent communication
• Manage tuition billing, staffing costs, and center budget goals
• Handle parent concerns, staff issues, and incidents calmly and professionally
• Model the culture we want: warm, accountable, focused on kids, and caring for their teachers
• You will be asked to lead by example and be the change you are wishing to see

What You Bring

• Meets KOEC requirements for a Child Care Center Program Director (100 children or less)
• Experience in a licensed child care center
• Working knowledge of Kansas child care licensing regulations
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willing to obtain before start)
• Must pass the required KBI/FBI background checks and child abuse/neglect registry checks
• Strong organizational skills and comfort with child care management software
• A hands-on leader who's willing to step into a classroom when the team needs it
• Committed to the job and helping the grow the team

Pay & Benefits

• $48,000 – $51,000 per year, based on experience

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, with flexibility as center needs require.
