Warwick Learning Centers

Job Type: Full-Time | Leadership Position

Join Our Leadership Team!

Warwick Learning Centers is seeking a highly experienced, motivated, and results-driven Child Care Center Director to lead the daily operations of a large, established early childhood education center.

We are looking for a strong leader with a proven track record of successfully managing a large child care facility, supervising staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and overseeing state- and federally funded early childhood programs.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on leadership experience with Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts (PKC), Early Head Start (EHS), and Keystone STARS. This position requires someone who is organized, proactive, accountable, and comfortable managing the operational, educational, and financial responsibilities of a busy child care center.

Key Responsibilities

Center Operations & Leadership

  • Oversee all daily operations of a large child care center, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment.
  • Lead, supervise, coach, and hold staff accountable for performance and professional expectations.
  • Manage staffing schedules, classroom ratios, and daily coverage while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Monitor enrollment, classroom capacity, staffing expenses, and center performance.
  • Establish clear expectations and maintain a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership and support departments to achieve organizational goals.

Program Compliance & Quality

  • Maintain compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) child care licensing regulations.
  • Oversee compliance and documentation for Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts and Early Head Start programs.
  • Lead Keystone STARS quality improvement efforts and maintain ongoing readiness for assessments and inspections.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of student records, staff files, attendance, program documentation, and required reporting.
  • Monitor curriculum implementation, classroom environments, child assessments, and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable CACFP requirements and organizational policies.

Staff Management & Development

  • Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and retain qualified early childhood educators.
  • Conduct staff evaluations, classroom observations, coaching sessions, and performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Ensure employees complete required professional development and maintain current credentials.
  • Address performance concerns promptly, professionally, and consistently.
  • Build a strong leadership team and promote staff engagement, teamwork, and accountability.

Enrollment, Families & Community Engagement

  • Drive enrollment growth and retention to meet center capacity and financial goals.
  • Conduct center tours and support family enrollment in child care, Pre-K Counts, and Early Head Start programs.
  • Establish strong relationships with families, community organizations, school districts, and program partners.
  • Address parent concerns professionally and maintain excellent family communication.
  • Participate in community outreach, marketing initiatives, and enrollment events.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in child care center leadership or management, preferably in a large, multi-classroom facility.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, Early Head Start, and Keystone STARS programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of Pennsylvania DHS child care licensing regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing staffing, classroom ratios, budgets, enrollment, and daily center operations.
  • Proven ability to supervise, develop, and hold employees accountable.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must meet Pennsylvania child care director qualification requirements and obtain all required background clearances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Pennsylvania Director's Credential.
  • Experience managing a large center with multiple classrooms and diverse funding streams.
  • Experience preparing for Keystone STARS assessments, DHS inspections, and grant monitoring visits.
  • Familiarity with early childhood assessment tools, curriculum implementation, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated success improving enrollment, staff retention, and program quality.

What We're Looking For

We need a director who is more than an administrator. We are looking for a hands-on leader who takes ownership of their center, supports their teachers, builds strong relationships with families, and consistently delivers results.

The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Leads by example and maintains high expectations.
  • Is confident making decisions and resolving challenges independently.
  • Understands the balance between educational quality, regulatory compliance, and financial sustainability.
  • Can effectively manage a large team and multiple program requirements.
  • Is proactive rather than reactive and takes pride in maintaining a well-run center.
  • Is passionate about early childhood education and committed to continuous improvement.
