VPK Assistant Teacher

In this role, you will assist our lead teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children from 4-5 years of age. Responsibilities

• Support classroom activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children
• Assist with daily routines including toileting, feeding, and outdoor play
• Supervise children closely to ensure safety at all times during indoor and outdoor activities
• Implement age-appropriate lesson plans under the guidance of lead teachers, incorporating child development instruction techniques
• Communicate effectively with parents about their child's progress, behavior, and needs
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning
• Follow mandated reporting laws to report any concerns regarding child safety or well-being
• Support behavior management strategies to foster positive interactions among children
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including first aid and pediatric CPR procedures when necessary
• Collaborate with team members to create an inclusive environment that supports children with disabilities or special needs

Experience

• Prior experience working with children in a daycare center, preschool, nannying, babysitting, or similar setting is highly preferred
• Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development stages
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is a plus
• Classroom management skills to maintain a structured yet flexible learning environment
• Familiarity with child supervision techniques and behavior management strategies
• Certification in first aid and CPR (including pediatric first aid) is desirable but not mandatory; training can be provided if needed
• Strong communication skills for effective parent interaction and team collaboration
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children in daycare or early childhood education settings

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
