UPK Teacher - Long Term Substitute

Join our vibrant early childhood education team as a Long-Term Substitute - UPK (Universal Pre-Kindergarten) Teacher, where your passion for nurturing young minds will inspire the next generation. In this dynamic role, you will lead classroom activities, develop engaging curricula, and foster a safe, inclusive environment that promotes early learning and development. Your expertise will help children build foundational skills in literacy, math, social-emotional growth, and physical development, setting them up for lifelong success.

This is a Monday-Friday position. Hours are 8:15-2:15 (with two mandatory meetings per month 3:30pm-5:00pm). Anticipated length of position is December - April.

Duties

• Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and individual student needs
• Lead classroom activities that promote literacy education, math skills, physical education, and social-emotional learning
• Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive and respectful learning environment
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, milestones, and any concerns
• Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and child welfare regulations at all times
• Supervise and mentor assistant teachers or aides to support classroom operations and student engagement
• Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor progress and inform instruction
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson plans, and student development milestones
• Promote inclusive practices for children with special needs or those requiring early intervention services
• Ensure health and safety protocols are followed diligently, including first aid and CPR procedures

Skills

• NYS Teacher certification or working towards certification is required
• Experience working with children across various early childhood settings such as daycare, preschool, or private schools
• Strong knowledge of child development principles, childhood education theories, and classroom management strategies
• Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention programs, and behavior management techniques
• Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and team collaboration
• Ability to plan/follow engaging lessons that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, physical activity, and social skills
• Knowledge of mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety regulations
• First aid and CPR certification to ensure preparedness for emergencies is preferred
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations while fostering an inclusive environment

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
