Toddler room teacher assistant

In this role, you will support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants and young toddlers. Your positive energy, reliability, and attention to detail will contribute to building strong relationships with children and their families.

Duties

• Assist the Lead Teacher with age-appropriate activities that promote infant and young toddler development, including sensory play, motor skills, language development, and social interaction.
• Maintain active supervision of children at all times and follow required staff-to-child ratios.
• Assist with routine care, including feeding, diapering, toileting as appropriate, comforting, and nap routines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
• Clean and organize classroom toys, learning materials, and equipment throughout the day.
• Follow all health, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with families regarding children's daily activities, milestones, and concerns when appropriate.
• Follow mandated reporting requirements and immediately report safety or child welfare concerns according to school policy and state requirements.
• Support positive classroom management and children's social-emotional development.
• Follow the school's policies regarding personal phone use while supervising children.
• Work cooperatively with the Lead Teacher, administration, and other staff members.

Experience & Requirements

• Completed North Carolina childcare background check is required before an interview can be scheduled.
• Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, or in a childcare/daycare setting is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and early childhood education practices is preferred.
• Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification is preferred/required as applicable to the position.
• Previous nannying or babysitting experience with infants or toddlers is welcome.
• Must be dependable, punctual, patient, caring, and comfortable working as part of a team.
• Must be comfortable with diapering, feeding, cleaning, lifting/holding young children, and other daily infant/toddler care responsibilities.
