Temporary Preschool Teacher

The Raleigh School is a cooperative community of children, parents, and teachers that fosters a love of learning in an atmosphere of challenge, inquiry, and respect.

We are seeking a Temporary Preschool Teacher to join our team for a 12-week maternity leave coverage in a 2-year-old classroom. This will be a part-day, temporary position. We are looking for someone to join an established, supportive classroom. You will collaborate with our assistant teacher to continue providing a nurturing, play-based experience while maintaining established classroom routines and supporting children through this transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a nurturing environment that promotes each child's individual development while upholding a supportive class community.
• Demonstrate an understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice.
• Implement a play-based, emergent curriculum, incorporating children's interests and developmental needs.
• Partner with parents within our established parent-participatory model, providing guidance, support, and communication.
• Foster continuity for the children by maintaining established classroom routines, structure, and positive behavior management strategies.
• Work collaboratively with preschool faculty and school administration.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidates will have a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or possess a credential or certification that meets NAEYC accreditation standards.
• Prior experience as an early childhood educator is required.
• Valid background check, CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine passion for early childhood development.
