Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA) is seeking an SPP Lead Teacher to lead a Seattle Preschool Program classroom at our Northaven Early Learning Center in Seattle, WA. This role leads classroom instruction, curriculum planning, child assessment, family engagement, and implementation of Seattle Preschool Program (SPP) and DEEL requirements while supporting multilingual development, dual language learning, and belonging.

Key Details:

  • Pay: $32-$42 per hour (salary classification may apply at higher compensation levels based on Washington State requirements), depending on verified education, qualifications, and relevant experience
  • Please note: Placement within the range is based on verified education and relevant qualified experience after confirming the candidate meets SPP qualification requirements. Applicable credentials, such as P-3/Washington teaching credentials and approved Dual Language Initiative credentials, may also be considered when determining pay placement.

You're a caring, organized, and collaborative early childhood educator who enjoys creating engaging preschool learning experiences and helping children build confidence, curiosity, and strong foundations for future success. You value family partnership, culturally and linguistically responsive teaching, and shared leadership with classroom and program colleagues.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Meet the current DEEL/MERIT qualification requirements for an SPP Lead Teacher
  • Generally, this includes a BA in Early Childhood Education or another bachelor's degree with the required ECE coursework under the current SPP standard
  • Ability to meet applicable Washington State child care licensing, background check, health and safety, and SPP requirements
  • Experience planning and implementing developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum and learning experiences

Preferred

  • Previous Seattle Preschool Program (SPP) experience preferred but not required. Candidates who meet or are eligible to meet current SPP qualification requirements are encouraged to apply
  • Experience with Teaching Strategies GOLD and other child assessment tools
  • Experience with preschool curriculum, child assessment, and classroom documentation
  • Experience with culturally and linguistically responsive teaching practices and supporting dual language learning
  • Experience working with diverse children and families
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency
  • P-3 or Washington teaching credentials and/or approved Dual Language Initiative credentials

What You'll Do:

Classroom Leadership & Instruction

  • Lead the daily operation and instruction of an SPP preschool classroom
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive curriculum and learning experiences
  • Provide classroom leadership and collaborate with the Assistant Teacher and other support staff

Child Assessment & Documentation

  • Complete required observations, assessments, and documentation, including Teaching Strategies GOLD and other SPP-required tools
  • Use assessment information to support classroom planning and individualized learning experiences
  • Maintain licensing, SPP/DEEL, health and safety, and classroom documentation requirements

Family & Community Partnerships

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with families and partner with them around children's learning and development
  • Create a classroom environment that celebrates children's cultures, languages, identities, and strengths

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with the Site Director, Assistant Director, Instructional Coach, and other program partners
  • Participate in required SPP professional development, coaching, planning, and continuous quality improvement activities

Education Verification:

Candidates must meet current DEEL/MERIT qualification requirements for an SPP Lead Teacher. A bachelor's or master's degree in another field does not automatically qualify a candidate without the required ECE coursework and DEEL/MERIT approval. Education, ECE coursework, credential status, and MERIT qualifications will be verified before determining eligibility.

Previous SPP experience is preferred but not required for candidates who meet or are eligible to meet the applicable qualification requirements.
