School Age Teacher (Childcare Center)

Overview

ABC Child Development Center is seeking a reliable, energetic, organized, and experienced School-Age Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate must enjoy working with school-age children, demonstrate strong classroom management skills, and provide a safe, structured, and engaging environment for children before and after school.

Candidates must be dependable, flexible, and capable of managing classroom activities while supporting children's academic, social, emotional, and physical development.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement age-appropriate weekly lesson plans that support school-age children's developmental and educational needs.
• Establish and maintain structured daily schedules for before-school and after-school programming.
• Plan and lead engaging activities, including arts and crafts, STEM projects, literacy, recreational games, and outdoor activities.
• Provide homework assistance and encourage positive study habits.
• Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor play.
• Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive behavior.
• Ensure accurate daily attendance records and complete required classroom documentation.
• Communicate professionally with parents, coworkers, and administration.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Assist with school transportation, including safely transporting children when assigned and properly authorized.
• Follow all Maryland Office of Child Care licensing regulations and center policies.
• Be physically capable of actively supervising children, participating in activities, and lifting children when necessary, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Required Qualifications

• 45-Hour School-Age Child Care Training Certificate or other Maryland-approved qualifications for the position.
• Previous experience working with school-age children in a licensed childcare or educational setting preferred.
• Experience developing and implementing lesson plans and daily classroom schedules.
• Health and Safety Training Certificate.
• ADA Training Certificate.
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Breastfeeding Support Training Certificate, if applicable to licensing requirements.
• 9-Hour Communication Skills Training Certificate.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet the center's transportation requirements.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work a split-shift schedule, Monday through Friday.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required screenings and onboarding requirements.
