RI PRE-K ASSISTANT TEACHER

Job Summary
Join our early childhood education team as a Rhode Island Pre-K Assistant Teacher! In this dynamic role, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment for young learners. The hours are a set schedule Monday- Friday, 8:00 AM to 4: 30 PM. Totally 40 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day. This classroom follows a similar schedule to the North Kingstown School Department from the last week of August until mid-June.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, and social skills development
• Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and helping maintain a safe, organized environment for children
• Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and physical development
• Help facilitate communication between children and staff, fostering an inclusive and respectful classroom culture
• Assist with classroom routines such as arrival, transitions, meal times, and outdoor play to ensure smooth daily operations
• Support individualized learning needs by working with children with disabilities or special needs, including those with autism or other developmental challenges
• Collaborate with teachers on curriculum development and classroom activities to enhance educational support and student engagement

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings is required
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early learning standards (RIELDS)
• Experience with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team in a school environment
• Technical proficiency with educational tools or software
• Familiarity with special education practices
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all students
