Job Summary
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, educational environment for young children, supporting their early childhood development and learning. This role involves implementing age-appropriate curricula, fostering positive behavior, and maintaining open communication with parents and guardians. The teacher ensures classroom safety and adheres to all mandated reporting laws while promoting a supportive and engaging atmosphere that encourages children's social, emotional, and cognitive growth.

Duties

• Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate preschool instruction focused on early childhood education principles.
• Manage classroom activities to create a safe and stimulating learning environment for young children.
• Apply effective behavior management strategies to support positive social interactions and emotional regulation among students.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children's progress, developmental milestones, and any concerns.
• Maintain compliance with mandated reporting laws to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the program.
• Implement health and safety protocols, including first aid procedures and CPR when necessary.
• Support childhood development by observing individual needs and tailoring activities to promote growth across cognitive, social, and emotional domains.
• Collaborate with colleagues and program staff to enhance educational practices and program quality.

Requirements

• Appropriate teaching certificate.
• Meet one of the additional qualifications described in TEC §29.167 (b-1) Commissioner’s Rule: TAC §102.1003
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
• Strong classroom management skills to foster a positive learning environment.
• Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and teamwork.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Familiarity with mandated reporting laws related to child safety and welfare.
• Ability to implement behavior management techniques that promote positive student behavior.
• Commitment to creating a respectful and supportive classroom environment.
