As a Preschool Lead Teacher, you will play an important role in creating a positive classroom experience through hands-on learning, creative activities, and meaningful interactions. You'll help children develop essential academic, social, and emotional skills while encouraging independence, curiosity, and a love for learning.

We are looking for someone who brings creativity, patience, strong classroom management skills, and a genuine passion for early childhood education. You'll work alongside a supportive team of educators and an accessible leadership team that values communication, collaboration, and the important role our teachers play in the lives of our children and families.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that support early literacy, math, creativity, social and emotional development, and kindergarten readiness.
• Lead daily classroom activities and establish a structured, nurturing, and positive learning environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills while promoting positive behavior, independence, cooperation, and respect among children.
• Create hands-on learning experiences that encourage exploration, creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.
• Observe and assess children's developmental progress, adapting activities and instruction to meet individual learning needs.
• Maintain open and consistent communication with parents, sharing classroom updates, developmental milestones, and any concerns.
• Provide leadership and guidance to assistant teachers, ensuring a collaborative and organized classroom environment.
• Work closely with school leadership and fellow educators to maintain consistency in curriculum, classroom expectations, and school policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom while following all New Jersey childcare licensing requirements and health and safety procedures.
• Support children's social, emotional, and physical development through daily routines, outdoor play, and developmentally appropriate activities.

Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Preschool Lead Teacher or in a similar early childhood education role strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a preschool classroom and create a positive learning environment.
• Experience developing and implementing lesson plans that support early academic, social, and emotional development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and fellow educators.
• Patient, nurturing, dependable, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance classroom instruction, daily routines, and individual student needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with assistant teachers and school leadership.
• Familiarity with New Jersey childcare licensing requirements and classroom safety procedures preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
• Must meet applicable New Jersey licensing qualifications for the position and successfully complete required background checks.
