Preschool Lead Teacher 2026-2027

*2026-2027 School Year Lead Teacher – Preschool – State-funded/Abbott – Plainfield, NJ*Second Street Youth Center Inc. – Plainfield, NJ Non-exempt* Instruct students at the preschool level in accordance with the Connect For Learning Curriculum.* Develop and implement lesson plans that demonstrate a thorough understanding of curriculum.* Implement and model developmentally appropriate practice in all areas of instruction, including communication, and positive guidance strategies.* Implement classroom management strategies which promote student responsibility, problem solving skills, and student accountability.* Demonstrate the ability to supervise students in a safe, nurturing, positive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.* Work as a team player with designated teaching team.* Log student attendance and meal counts daily.* Conduct developmental screenings, ongoing assessments, and parent conferences within required collection periods.* Maintain well-written anecdotal notes, SGOs, and COR advantage collections.* Participate in teacher meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and professional development training as required.* Actively participate in special program initiatives including community activities and events.*All applicants must fully meet the minimum requirements for consideration.** Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, 1 year of teaching experience in a preschool setting, or equivalent experience working with children .* Preschool through Third Grade (P-3) teacher certification REQUIRED (certificate of eligibility or certificate of eligibility with advance standing)* Proficiency of communication skills must include coherent speaking, reading, writing, comprehension, interpretation, and delivery of instructions in both the oral and written form.* Experience with State-Funded Preschool (formerly Abbott) standards.* Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, ECERS, TPOT, the Preschool Learning Standard, and GROW NJ Kids.

Job Type: Full-time

Starting Salary: $74,000 per year
