Preschool Assistant Teacher

We are looking for a fully qualified preschool teacher to hire part-time starting in November 2026 with the opportunity to expand to full-time if desired.

The Assistant Preschool Teacher is supervised by the Program Director and is responsible for the overall teaching and success of the Mini Makers™ Preschool Program, including:

• Supervise and implement curriculum for a play-based, child-directed program for preschool-aged children (ages 2-5 years old)
• Manage a classroom of up to 15 students with the support of a Lead Teacher and/or Teacher’s Aide
• Assess children’s needs and development and communicate with Preschool staff
• Work closely with families to encourage mutual cooperation
• Provide guidance to instructional staff to help resolve issues with students when necessary
• Ensure the safety of all children in our program
• Closely follow licensing regulations related to child care
• Serve as the substitute Site Supervisor when the Program Director is offsite
• Participate in light housekeeping to sanitize and reset the space daily

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 18 years of age
• Minimum of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
• At least 6-months professional childcare teaching experience
• Currently CPR/First Aid Certified (8-hour EMSA training) - can be done after being hired
• Clean LiveScan and Federal Background Check - will be done after being hired
• Complete all State-Required Hiring Paperwork (W4, TB clearance, immunizations, etc.) - will be done after being hired
• Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats and collaborate effectively in a professional environment
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds safely and climb stairs with ease

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Completed a Bachelor’s Degree at an accredited higher education institution
• Demonstrated leadership roles in professional environments
• Completed 8-hour Preventative Health and Nutrition training
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, Teacher Permit, or Master Teacher Permit

SCHOOL BACKGROUND: We are a Center-Based Preschool with two developmentally designed classrooms that operates weekdays from 7:00am-6:00pm (LIC 343623934). Our philosophy centers around teaching character education through play and developmentally-based academic learning (letters, numbers, colors, shapes, etc) and lots of student-directed, exploratory play and creativity. We have a very strong teaching team for the 25 students we serve and also have developed a supervisory mentorship program to train student interns who are studying early childhood education.

COMPENSATION

• This position is paid hourly ($18.00-$22.00) commensurate with experience, including an hourly allotment for curriculum development, staff meetings, and other engagement opportunities (e.g. parents meetings, Open House and Orientation events)
• You will accrue paid sick leave (1 hours for every 30 hours you work) that you can begin using 90 days after you start
• Scheduled time off annually during federal holidays and breaks (unpaid unless it is a scheduled Staff In-Service Day)
• Additional $100/month Wellness Stipend paid at the end of a full calendar month for employees that work at least 20 hpw
• Option to save for retirement using the CalSavers Plan
• Because this is a part-time position, it is exempt from additional benefits

SCHEDULE

• Start Date: November 1, 2026 or later
• Weekly Shifts: Currently hiring for a 25 hpw part-time positions weekdays (Monday-Friday) 8:00am-1:00pm.

Our operating hours are weekdays 7:00am-6:00pm. Weekly shifts will be determined based on current staff schedule and employee’s availability
