Job Description

Santa Rosa Beach Community Church Preschool is seeking a dedicated, nurturing, and dependable One-Year-Old Assistant Teacher to join our preschool family for the 2026–2027 school year.

Our team of passionate early childhood educators takes pride in creating a safe, loving, and engaging learning environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, academically, and spiritually. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for young children, a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and experience working with infants or toddlers in an early childhood setting.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for one-year-old children.
• Support the implementation of daily lesson plans, age-appropriate activities, and curriculum designed to encourage early learning and developmental growth.
• Engage children in hands-on learning experiences, sensory exploration, music, movement, and play-based activities.
• Assist with daily classroom routines, including diaper changes, feeding, handwashing, nap time, and transitions.
• Provide attentive supervision to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every child.
• Encourage positive social interactions, language development, independence, and age-appropriate behavior.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Assist with documenting children's daily activities and communicating with families through our parent communication software.
• Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher, administration, and fellow staff members to maintain a positive and supportive preschool environment.
• Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, flexibility, and a willingness to support the preschool's Christian values and mission.
• Follow all preschool policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) childcare regulations.

Job Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children is preferred.
• Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Completion of Florida Department of Children and Families Mandatory Introductory Training (40 hours), or willingness to complete all required training within established state deadlines.
• Must successfully complete and pass a background screening in accordance with Florida Department of Children and Families requirements.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
• Must be patient, compassionate, energetic, and comfortable working with children as young as 12 months.
• Must be able to lift and carry young children, participate in floor-level activities, and meet the physical demands of a toddler classroom.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Must demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to providing quality early childhood care.

Salary & Schedule:

• Starting Pay: $17.00 per hour, with consideration given to education and experience.
• Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
• Hours: Approximately 18 hours per week.
• Position Type: Part-Time, School Year Only (August- May)
• Our preschool follows the Walton County School District calendar.
