Job Description

Our Lady of Victory School, a Catholic Pre-K through Grade 8 school in Mount Vernon, New York, is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and nurturing Pre-K 4 Teacher to join our school community.

We are looking for a passionate educator who understands the importance of early childhood development and can create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate will be creative, organized, energetic, and committed to helping young children develop academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

Our Pre-K program partners with the Mount Vernon City School District, and teachers are expected to follow district and school requirements regarding curriculum, assessments, instructional planning, and student progress monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the New York State Prekindergarten Learning Standards.
• Provide engaging instruction in early literacy, phonological awareness, mathematics, science, and social-emotional development.
• Create a positive, nurturing, and structured classroom environment that encourages independence, creativity, and a love of learning.
• Administer CIRCLE Progress Monitoring assessments and use student data to develop differentiated small-group instruction.
• Develop instructional plans and targeted learning activities based on individual student needs.
• Collaborate with the classroom teaching assistant to implement small-group instruction and support student development.
• Incorporate hands-on learning, educational centers, manipulatives, music, movement, and purposeful play into daily instruction.
• Maintain accurate student records, assessment data, lesson plans, and required documentation.
• Establish effective classroom management strategies and ensure appropriate student supervision.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to meet the needs of all learners.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and parent conferences.
• Support the Catholic mission and values of Our Lady of Victory School.

Qualifications

• New York State Early Childhood Education Certification (Birth–Grade 2) is REQUIRED.
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Previous Pre-K teaching experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
• Experience with student assessments, data-driven instruction, and differentiated small-group learning.
• Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching assistants, families, and school administration.
• Creative, patient, flexible, dependable, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• Willingness to follow school, district, and Archdiocese of New York policies and procedures.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
