PreK Assistant Teacher – ECCAT

Full-Time PreK Teacher

Almost Heaven Early Learning Center is a small, privately owned child care center serving children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. We are looking for a loving, energetic, dependable, and qualified PreK Teacher to join our team!

Our PreK classroom provides children with a fun, engaging environment where they can build independence, develop social-emotional skills, and prepare for their next step in school.

Position Details

• Monday–Friday schedule
• Full-time position

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
• Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities and learning experiences.
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
• Read books, sing songs, lead activities, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
• Encourage independence, problem-solving, communication, and positive peer interactions.
• Assist children with daily routines, meals, toileting, and personal needs.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Observe and respond to individual children's needs and developmental progress.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with families.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and center staff.
• Follow all center policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety procedures.
• Participate in required professional development and continuing education.

Education & Qualifications

Candidates must have or be willing to obtain one of the following:

• ECCAT (Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher)
• CDA (Child Development Associate)
• Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to continuing their professional growth.

Requirements

• Must be professional, reliable, trustworthy, and dependable.
• Must genuinely enjoy working with young children.
• Must be patient, positive, energetic, and nurturing.
• Must be comfortable getting down on the floor, actively playing, and participating in classroom activities.
• Must be able to lift and assist children as needed.
• Must successfully complete all required background checks.
• Must provide professional references.
• Must be willing to participate in required WV STARS continuing education and professional development.
• Previous PreK or early childhood classroom experience is preferred.
