Pre School – Pre-K Lead Teacher

First Steps Children Learning Center is seeking a dependable, caring, energetic, and creative Pre-K Lead Teacher to join our team!

We are looking for an experienced early childhood educator who enjoys working with preschool-aged children and is confident independently managing a classroom, planning engaging learning activities, and creating a positive and structured learning environment.

Our ideal candidate is reliable, organized, patient, and passionate about helping young children learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage and supervise a Pre-K classroom while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
• Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate learning activities focused on letters, numbers, shapes, colors, early literacy, and kindergarten readiness.
• Incorporate sensory activities, science, arts and crafts, language development, and fine motor skills into daily learning experiences.
• Follow the classroom’s daily schedule, including circle time, meals, bathroom routines, rest time, and transitions.
• Encourage positive behavior and support children’s social and emotional development.
• Communicate professionally with parents regarding children’s daily activities and developmental progress.
• Document classroom activities and share updates through our parent communication app.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
• Work collaboratively with the director and other teachers.
• Follow all center policies, safety procedures, and Virginia childcare licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children required.
• Experience independently leading a classroom strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
• Ability to independently plan and implement engaging educational activities.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work the assigned schedule.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
