Teach the way you always wanted to.

At Learning Age, children’s curiosity drives the day. We combine Purdue University’s Early Learning Matters (ELM) curriculum, a research-based program for children from birth to age 5, with the Reggio Emilia approach. Every classroom has a clear set of learning goals, and teachers have the freedom to follow where children’s questions lead.

No screens or worksheets here. You’ll be trusted to observe, listen, and build projects with children. Beautiful Documentation Boards display the child’s work.

What you’ll do

  • Lead your own classroom using ELM learning goals and activities, brought to life through Reggio-inspired projects that grow from children’s interests
  • Make learning visible with documentation such as photos, children’s words, and their work, so families see how their child thinks
  • Work within a classroom where environment is the “third teacher”: orderly, beautiful, and full of real materials
  • Invite children to express ideas in many ways, including drawing, clay, building, movement, and words
  • Build strong relationships with families through daily connection, documentation, special school events, and twice-yearly conferences
  • Guide behavior with warmth and planning, not punishment
  • Lead and mentor, when applicable, your assistant teacher as a true teaching partner
  • Keep every child safe, with careful supervision, ratios, and health practices

Why teachers love it here

  • A curriculum you can be proud of. Purdue’s ELM plus the Reggio approach gives you structure and creative freedom.
  • Real training, not just a binder. You’ll receive ELM training, Reggio Emilia training, quarterly team trainings, and professional development assistance for Reggio learning, and options for ECE gatherings.
  • You won’t be left on your own. A structured 30-60-90 day onboarding gives you clear expectations, regular feedback, and the support of directors with years of experience.
  • Room to grow. Learning Age is opening new sites, and we promote from within. Today’s lead teachers are tomorrow’s center leaders.
  • A team that respects you. You’ll be part of a team that values curiosity, kindness, and the work you do.
  • Paid time off
  • Employee discount

What we’re looking for

  • Experience leading a preschool or toddler classroom
  • A CDA, or an associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, or a commitment to earning a CDA
  • Knowledge of child development and positive behavior guidance
  • Experience with Reggio Emilia, ELM, or other play-based approaches is a plus. If you’re curious and eager to learn, we’ll train you.
  • Warm, clear communication with children, families, and coworkers
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet state licensing requirements

Come see our classrooms. If you believe children are capable, curious, and full of ideas, we’d love to meet you. Apply today and schedule a visit.
