About the Position

Hempfield Family Child Development Center (HFCDC) is seeking a Lead Teacher. We are an intentionally small, homelike center grounded in the Reggio Emilia philosophy and nature-based education, featuring a certified Nature Explore outdoor classroom and dedicated studio spaces.

This role offers educators full autonomy to focus directly on children's emerging interests and developmental needs in an intentional, community-oriented setting, free from rigid boxed curricula.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $35,360 - $41,600 annually paid bi-weekly

Responsibilities

• Lead daily classroom routines, intentional play, and exploration for children.
• Utilize our indoor studio spaces and certified Nature Explore outdoor classroom for daily nature-focused, hands-on learning.
• Foster a cooperative, homelike atmosphere that encourages children to explore and communicate through diverse creative languages.
• Collaborate with and guide assistant classroom staff.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding daily updates and developmental milestones.

Qualifications

• Education & Credentials: Completed post-secondary credits, certificate, or degree (Associate or higher) in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline.
• Experience: Background working with babies, toddlers, or young children in a licensed childcare or early learning setting.
• Philosophical Alignment: Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach, or a growth mindset and willingness to learn nature-based teaching methods.
• Clearances: Ability to obtain required PA state clearances (Child Abuse, PA State Police Criminal Record, and FBI Fingerprinting) and a health physical.
• Credentials: Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reported, Fire Safety, and Basic Health and Safety certifications (sponsorship available upon hire).
