Pre-K Lead Teacher (Maryland Pre-K Expansion Grant)

Job Type: Full-time, 10-month school-year position (possible summer extension based on funding). Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shift; no nights or weekends.

Pay: $62,482 per year.

Benefits: Paid Time Off (up to 72 hours in year one, increasing with tenure), paid Winter Break, 15% child care tuition discount, paid bereavement leave, employer-paid CPR/First Aid certification, and biweekly pay with direct deposit. PTO and holiday pay begin after the benefit probationary period (six full-time pay periods).

Responsibilities

• Curriculum: Plan and implement daily lessons using Frog Street Pre-K; differentiate instruction and integrate social-emotional learning and culturally responsive teaching
• Assessment: Administer and document assessments required by MSDE and the grant; maintain individual learning plans and portfolios
• Classroom: Foster a safe, nurturing, inclusive classroom using positive behavior supports; guide and mentor the assistant teacher
• Families: Hold regular family conferences and share ongoing progress updates
• Compliance: Keep licensing and grant records current; attend all grant-required meetings, coaching, and trainings

Qualifications (one of the following is required)

• Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (foreign degrees must be verified as equivalent)
• Other bachelor’s: Bachelor’s degree in another field, plus meeting the MSDE Pre-K CLASS assessment minimum scores
• Pathway: As of July 1, 2024, 10+ years of documented early childhood experience (at least 20 hours/week and 180 days/year), meeting CLASS minimum scores, and earning an associate degree in ECE by July 1, 2030

Also required

• MSDE 90-hour Preschool certification (or equivalent) and 1+ year of Pre-K or early learning lead teaching experience
• Experience using child assessments to guide instruction; Frog Street experience preferred
• Current infant/child CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain; MVLC pays) and ability to meet all COMAR 13A.16.06 staff requirements
