REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from an accredited college/university or enrolled to obtain AA in ECE or CD within 2 years of hire date.
  • Must have an understanding of early childhood and what is considered best practices and developmentally appropriate activities for children 3-5 years old.
  • Must work and communicate with staff, families & children in a positive manner and be familiar with stress management and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Sensitive to the needs of low-income families and multicultural beliefs and practices.
  • Obtain an initial physical health examination prior to hire and one every 5 years after. Obtain an annual TB screening.
  • Completes and passes a fingerprint criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Full Time - 35 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8-3:30 (3 weeks off unpaid in July for summer break)

Benefits include extremely low cost medical/vision/dental insurance at only $40/month for employee premium and up to $130/month for full family coverage. PTO (Personal Time Off) accrues at 3.5 hours/pay period (7 hours/month) beginning after 30 days. Holiday pay is offered (after 30 days) including a 5 day paid week at Christmas (after 90 days of hire).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

(A full job description will be provided upon hire. This list is not inclusive of all duties.)

  • Provide leadership in a preschool (3, 4 and 5 year olds) classroom for classroom staff (teacher assistant & site aide).
  • Supervise children at all times, engage with children using positive teacher/child interactions, model & teach self-regulation through the use of positive discipline methods, create lesson plans and implement the curriculum, complete screenings and assessments, assist children with toilet training, participate and encourage positive meal time experiences for children.
  • Promote health & safety of all program participants and the environment in which learning occurs.
  • Record & enter child observations and record various types of data and updates accurately in online data bases.
  • Schedule and attend home visits and parent/teacher conferences.
  • Collaborate & maintain open communication with teaching team, other site staff and the management team.
  • Attend monthly staff trainings and other forms of professional development (onsite and/or offsite).
