Adat Ari El Early Childhood Center (ECC), a high-quality Jewish early childhood program in Valley Village, is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Lead Aftercare Teacher to join our team. We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships with young children and creating a positive, engaging environment at the end of their school day.

Our educational philosophy is rooted in hands-on, project-based learning that supports children's curiosity, independence, creativity, and overall development. We offer a rich Jewish learning environment where children and families build meaningful connections and a strong sense of community.

This position focuses specifically on leading our afternoon aftercare program. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking initiative, planning engaging activities, supervising children, and creating a safe, welcoming space where children can unwind, play, explore, and connect with friends after their regular classroom day.

We are looking for someone who can join us as soon as possible and become a valued member of our ECC community.

  • Establish positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision and follow all health, safety, and licensing requirements.
  • Support children's independence, problem-solving, creativity, and positive peer interactions.
  • Communicate professionally and warmly with parents and colleagues.
  • Help maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming aftercare environment.
  • Incorporate Jewish values, traditions, and experiences into the program as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • An AA degree or higher in Child Development or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience working with young children.
  • Current TB clearance, meeting applicable licensing requirements.
  • A genuine love for children and a commitment to their well-being.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and colleagues.
  • Ability to lift and carry children weighing approximately 10–40 pounds as needed.
  • A willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Child Development or a related field.
  • Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children.
  • Completed infant/toddler coursework or a willingness to complete the required units.
  • Experience with play-based, child emergent curriculum, constructivist, humanistic, and Jewish philosophy and values.
  • Previous experience leading an extended care, enrichment, or extended-day program.
  • Interest in Jewish learning, traditions, and community.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • This is an in-person position at our Valley Village campus.
