Whiz Kids Academy – Pelican is seeking a caring, dependable, patient, and nurturing Infant Teacher to join our early childhood education team!

The Infant Teacher is responsible for providing attentive, responsive care to infants while creating a safe, warm, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This position works closely with families and other teachers to support each child's individual needs, development, routines, and milestones.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, responsive, and attentive care to infants throughout the day.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Follow each infant's individual feeding, sleeping, diapering, and daily care routines.
• Assist with bottle feeding, meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other daily care needs as appropriate.
• Follow safe sleep practices and maintain a clean and safe sleep environment.
• Monitor infants closely and respond appropriately to their individual needs, cues, and behaviors.
• Support infants' social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
• Provide age-appropriate activities that encourage sensory exploration, movement, language development, and early learning.
• Engage infants through talking, singing, reading, music, sensory activities, tummy time, and other developmentally appropriate experiences.
• Observe and document children's developmental progress, behaviors, routines, and milestones as required.
• Maintain appropriate classroom supervision and staff-to-child ratios in accordance with Florida DCF licensing requirements.
• Keep the classroom clean, organized, and sanitized, including toys, learning materials, changing areas, cribs, tables, and frequently used surfaces.
• Follow proper sanitation and hygiene procedures when preparing bottles, handling food, changing diapers, and caring for infants.
• Prepare classroom materials and activities appropriate for the children's developmental stages.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents and families regarding children's daily routines, activities, and development.
• Communicate any concerns regarding a child's health, behavior, development, or well-being to appropriate leadership.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators to provide consistent, high-quality care.
• Follow all health, safety, sanitation, emergency, and Florida childcare licensing requirements.
• Complete required classroom documentation, daily reports, and other records accurately.
• Be flexible and willing to assist with classroom needs when necessary.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Florida 45-Hour DCF Child Care Training required.
• Professional English communication skills.
• Caring, patient, dependable, and positive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team.
• Ability to follow directions, classroom procedures, and safety requirements.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and care for infants.
• Previous childcare or infant classroom experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education.
• CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Previous experience working in a licensed childcare or early learning center.
• Previous experience working with infants or toddlers.
• Knowledge of infant development and age-appropriate caregiving practices.
• Experience following individual feeding, sleeping, and daily care schedules.
