The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, dependable, and passionate about working with infants. This position requires someone who understands that infant care is about much more than meeting basic needsβ€”it is about building secure relationships, encouraging early development, communicating closely with families, and making each child feel safe and loved throughout the day.

Responsibilities

As an Infant Teacher, you will:

  • Provide warm, responsive, and attentive care to each infant.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Follow all required infant classroom ratios, licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and school policies.
  • Follow each child's individual feeding, sleeping, diapering, and developmental schedule as appropriate.
  • Change diapers and assist with all aspects of infant hygiene and care.
  • Prepare and administer bottles and meals according to school procedures and family instructions.
  • Follow safe sleep practices at all times.
  • Engage infants through age-appropriate activities including tummy time, sensory exploration, music, books, movement, language development, and supervised play.
  • Encourage developmental milestones including rolling, sitting, crawling, pulling up, early communication, and social-emotional development.
  • Provide frequent positive verbal interaction, affection, and individualized attention.
  • Observe children closely and communicate developmental progress or concerns with school leadership.
  • Maintain accurate daily records regarding bottles, meals, diaper changes, naps, activities, and other required information.
  • Communicate professionally and positively with families regarding their child's day.
  • Keep the classroom, toys, feeding areas, changing areas, and equipment clean and sanitized according to school procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with co-teachers and members of the leadership team.
  • Participate in classroom planning, school events, staff meetings, professional development, and required training.
  • Assist with classroom transitions and other school responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a genuine love for infants and early childhood education.
  • Be patient, nurturing, attentive, and energetic.
  • Be dependable and able to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be comfortable working closely with families and fellow teachers.
  • Be able to multitask while maintaining constant supervision of children.
  • Be willing to complete all required state, licensing, and school training.
  • Have previous infant, childcare, preschool, or early childhood experience preferred.
  • Have a CDA or other Early Childhood Education credential preferred.
  • Meet all state-required background check and employment requirements.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to perform the physical responsibilities associated with caring for infants, including regularly sitting on the floor, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting and carrying children, and safely moving throughout the classroom.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who understands how important consistency and relationships are during the first year of a child's life. Our Infant Teachers should take pride in creating a classroom where families feel confident leaving their babies each day.

The right person will be loving, reliable, professional, safety-focused, and excited to be part of a collaborative preschool team.
