Job Description: We are seeking a passionate, full-time Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our team, working with a class of 4-5 year old children. The ideal candidate would be an enthusiastic and nurturing educator with knowledge of child development who views themselves as a lifelong learner, is eager to collaborate with co-teachers and engage meaningfully with children and their families. The ideal candidate would have experience working with young children in an early childhood setting, strong behavior and classroom management skills, and the ability to develop engaging play-based lesson plans whose personal pedagogy aligns with that of the school. The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to implement classroom curriculum, support student development, and maintain classroom routines and expectations. The Assistant Teacher’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist the Lead Teacher with developing and implementing classroom curriculum and activities, Support the Lead Teacher in ensuring the safety, supervision, and overall well-being of all students, Assist with observing and documenting student skills, growth, and development, Support classroom record keeping and required documentation, and more!
Requirements: Previous experience working with young children in a preschool, nursery school, childcare, or educational setting, Minimum of 2 years of preschool teaching experience, bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred, CDA, Early Childhood Education coursework, or related credentials preferred, A genuine interest in supporting the growth, development, and well-being of young children, Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and age-appropriate expectations, Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with the Lead Teacher and to work as part of a team while contributing positively to the overall classroom and school environment, Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Ability to maintain a calm, patient, nurturing, and positive demeanor when working with children, to actively supervise children and prioritize student safety at all times, Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to the individual needs of students, Willingness to participate in professional development, staff meetings, trainings, and other school activities as required, Commitment to maintaining MCNS standards, policies, procedures, and expectations, Required clearances, background checks, and health documentation as required by MCNS and applicable regulations.
