Job Title: Early Learning Lead: Infant/Toddler
Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt Department: Youth Development
Reports to: Director of Youth Development
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Early
Learning Lead: Infant/Toddler at the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Under the direction and supervision of the Early Learning Director, the Early Learning Lead: Infant/Toddler will supervise and guide a child’s development in a safe and healthy environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists supervise and interact with all children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in our childcare program.
2. Plans, develops, implements & participates in daily age-appropriate activities.
3. Nurtures children through purposeful programming; creates lesson plans that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes.
4. Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth.
5. Provides opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiences.
6. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
7. Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child’s needs and progress; connects families to the Y.
8. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
9. Create and maintain a clean and safe environment both physically and emotionally for all.
10. Assures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
11. Maintains program site, equipment, required program records and department files.
12. Demonstrates and supports the objectives of the Y’s mission statement and values by maintaining the Y-Voice in all that you say and do - welcoming, hopeful, determined, genuine, and nurturing.
13. Adheres to policies as stated in the YMCA Employee Handbook.
14. Always conducts themselves in a professional manor in and out of our program site.
15. Possess working knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws and proper reporting procedures.
16. Perform additional duties as assigned.
YMCA COMPETENCIES (Leader):
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
2. College degree preferred or an associate degree or currently pursuing a degree (emphasis on education, early learning or business management preferred) with added related experience.
3. Must complete the following trainings:
4. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and lesson plans.
5. Previous experience with diverse populations.
6. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
