Early Childhood Teacher

The Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for implementing the High Scope Curriculum, including, but not limited to, weekly themes, weekly lesson plans, inclusion of theme-related material, and rotation of toys and equipment regularly. The teacher will ensure the environment is safe, responsive, and stimulating by actively engaging themselves in daily activities and routines. (S)He will maintain professional and positive relationships with parents and families. The teacher will be responsible for assessing all areas of development of children using the High Scope Curriculum and the COR Assessment. All teachers will develop and maintain portfolios for each child. The Academy will hold Parent/Teacher conferences twice per year. Teachers are responsible for conducting those conferences with the parents/families for each child in their group.

Lead Teachers are responsible for the supervision and direction of Full-Time Assistant Teacher, Part-Time Assistant Teacher(s), Part-Time Aide(s), and Volunteers. Maintain all certifications as required. Ensure compliance with all Illinois Department of Children and Family Services rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or meet the minimum teacher requirement as set by DCFS
• Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills
• Experience working with young children
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
• Knowledge of child development and behavior management techniques
• Familiarity with curriculum development and early intervention strategies
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
