Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Daycare Two's Lead Teacher to oversee and support the development of young children in our early childhood education center. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive growth. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning age-appropriate activities, managing classroom routines, and guiding assistant staff to ensure high-quality care and education. This role requires a strong background in early childhood education and experience working with children. NCDHHS background check and DCDEE WORKS letter are required at time of hire. Candidates without EDU119 or equivalent will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with developmental milestones and curriculum standards
  • Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and caregivers to maintain a positive classroom environment
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by adhering to health and safety regulations
  • Foster social-emotional development through positive behavior management and nurturing interactions
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress, behavior, and developmental needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation of children's activities, progress reports, and incident reports
  • Organize age-appropriate activities that promote learning through play, exploration, and creativity
  • Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and providing individualized care when necessary
  • Ensure the classroom is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies at all times
  • Stay current on best practices in early childhood education through ongoing professional development

Skills

  • Proven experience working with children in daycare or preschool settings.
  • Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and age-specific care giving techniques.
  • Experience with classroom management and behavior management strategies.
  • First aid certification is highly desirable; CPR certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with children with disabilities or special needs; experience in special education is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and team members.
  • Compassionate caregiver with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for early childhood education.
  • Ability to manage classroom routines efficiently while fostering a warm learning environment.
  • Knowledge of toddler care, curriculum planning, and early childhood education standards.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
