Childcare Center Director

Heartland Childcare Center - a ministry of Mayfield United Methodist Church in Chesterland, Ohio - is seeking an experienced and compassionate individual to join our team as Director.

CHILDCARE CENTER DIRECTOR

POSITION SUMMARY

The Heartland Childcare Center (Center) Director provides hands-on leadership for the Center’s team. The Director creates a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment in which children can learn, grow, and thrive. The Director is responsible for the daily operations of the Center and ensuring compliance with Ohio regulations.

The Director also serves as a ministry leader within Mayfield United Methodist Church (Mayfield Church), working in collaboration with Mayfield Church staff and leadership, and ensuring that the Center reflects the vision and mission of Mayfield Church as well as maintaining the Center’s alignment to its own mission to be a community with heart, rooted in faith, and proven in quality.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Administration

● Responsible for the daily operation of the Center

● Maintain active oversight of program compliance via Ohio Child Licensing and Quality System (OCLQS) and manage staff profiles and professional development tracking through the Ohio Professional Registry (OCCRRA)

● Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and mentor Center staff in collaboration with church leadership, and in accordance with church policies and state regulations

● Create a positive, collaborative, and professional culture for staff

● Develop and manage the Center’s annual budget in collaboration with Mayfield Church leadership

● Communicate reports with Mayfield Church leadership regarding the Center’s operations, opportunities, and challenges

Child Development, Curriculum, & Family Engagement

● Develop and oversee curriculum and programs that meet requirements of the State of Ohio

● Communicate proactively with parents about child development, behavior, and progress

● Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and operational practices that maintain the Ohio Department of Children and Youth Step Up To Quality Gold Award

● Ensure that children receive attentive, Christ-centered care, and age and developmentally appropriate educational experiences that promote social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual well-being

● Recruit and welcome prospective families through visible marketing, timely communication, and engaging tours

Safety & Compliance

● Implement and maintain emergency, health, safety, and security procedures

● Respond appropriately to injuries, emergencies, suspected abuse or neglect, and other serious incidents in accordance with applicable law and Center policies

● Maintain appropriate supervision of all children at all times, in compliance with State of Ohio ratios

● Ensure the facility is safe, clean, and well-stocked with supplies and safety equipment

● Maintain accurate records and documentation related to children, families, enrollment, staffing, training, and licensing

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

● Commitment to the mission and values of Mayfield Church

● Meet all Ohio Department of Children and Youth (ODCY) Director qualifications, including holding - or being eligible for - the Ohio Administrator's Credential (or State of Ohio equivalent)

● Demonstrate experience and commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality educational environment for children

● Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

● Leadership or supervisory experience

● Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

● CPR and First Aid certification - or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of hire

● Physical ability to work in an active childcare environment, which may include periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and interacting directly with young children

Preferred

● Experience directing or managing a licensed childcare program, with knowledge of State of Ohio childcare licensing requirements

● Experience with managing enrollment, budgeting, and financial administration

● Experience developing and implementing early childhood curriculum

● An understanding of the role of faith-based childcare ministry

Pay: $60,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
