Duties

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to approved menus, adhering strictly to recipe guidelines and dietary restrictions
• Plan menus that balance nutritional value with appealing presentation, considering dietary needs and preferences of children
• Operate various kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, blenders, and food processors to facilitate efficient food production
• Follow food safety sanitizing procedures to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, preventing contamination
• Assist with food handling duties such as poaching, braising, grilling, and other cooking techniques to diversify meal options
• Manage high-volume food production during meal times while maintaining quality standards and timely service
• Ensure proper storage of ingredients and leftovers following food safety regulations to prevent spoilage and waste

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a dietary aide or in a similar food service role within a childcare or healthcare setting is highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of menu planning, food preparation techniques including poaching, braising, grilling, and knife skills
• Experience with food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures in high-volume environments
• Familiarity with operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Background in culinary arts or restaurant experience demonstrating proficiency in food handling and cooking techniques
• Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining flexibility for special dietary needs or menu adjustments
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in meal prep and food presentation

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
