Community School for People under 6, Carrboro, NC is seeking a new child care director

who is committed, compassionate, and dedicated to early learning of children and formal

education and professional development of early educators; and will work to carry the

torch for learning and leadership, and maintain a community and family focus.

Daily duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

LEADERSHIP

• Maintain daily center operations, communications and leadership. Provide a safe and welcoming environment.
• Recruit, interview, hire, and train teaching staff and others. Build network of external future talent.
• Conducts classroom observations, evaluations and provides feedback that motivates and encourages learning.
• Manage teaching team and/or leadership team to ensure curriculum is executed in alignment with mission.
• Uses a growth mindset to train, coach and develop for the future
• Listens objectively to employee concerns and plans with team to ensure mission and vision are maintained; and goals accomplished.
• Builds and communicates weekly staff schedules, and center calendar.
• Daily management of classroom ratios
• Manages new hire paperwork and all employee files in compliance with state licensing regulations
• Establish and maintain center budget, including tuition fees, collections and expense control.
• Engage in regular board meetings and provide updates for financial and policy approval.

COMMUNITY AND FAMILY FOCUS

• Lead tours with prospective families, highlighting key features, mission, curriculum, teacher education/experience, and quality, etc.
• Regularly work with staff to ensure communicates with families regarding student progress
• Maintain all records and files for students and teachers
• Ensures the physical environment and health/safety standards are full compliance with local and state licensing regulations
• Manage relationships with state licensing and regulations officials and conducts center evaluations
• Responsible for accident/incident reporting
• Medication management
• Conducts monthly fire and emergency safety drills
• Manage new customer administration and files in compliance with state licensing regulations
• Engage in regular center director meetings and community events that enhance or support the program.
• Serve as an advocate for early childhood children, families and educators.

• Qualifications:
• Five (5) or more years of center leadership/management experience preferred. Must have worked in ECE field for 5 or more years with at least 9 hours of business/management coursework.
• Must have NC Administrative Level III credentials.
• Must have professional teaching experience with infant to school-age children.
• Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field or non-related Bachelor’s degree with 18 or more hours in Early Childhood Education.
• Strong knowledge of state licensing and sanitation rules and regulations.
• Strong knowledge of QRIS and NAEYC standards
• CPR, First Aid, SIDS, Playground Safety, BSAC Certifications a must have or must be completed prior to hirer.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and communication skills, exceptionalorganization skills, family friendly focused, conflict resolution skills, creativityand exceptional work ethics.
• Strong experience in managing smooth operations with a cost control and revenue growth mindset; and ability to strategize for future goals.
• Proficiency in computer and technology (billing system, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Social Media Platforms, and other Online Marketing avenues.
• Compensation: Salary Range - $45,760 - $58,240
