Child Care Center Director

Early Learning Childcare is seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly motivated Childcare Director to lead our Shelbyville, Kentucky location.

We are looking for a strong leader who is passionate about early childhood education, understands childcare center operations, and has the ability to manage staff, maintain licensing compliance, and build positive relationships with children and families.

The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, confident in their decision-making, and capable of overseeing the daily operations of a busy childcare center.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily operations of the childcare center.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate teaching staff.
• Manage employee schedules, attendance, and staffing needs while maintaining required classroom ratios.
• Ensure compliance with Kentucky childcare licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and center policies.
• Maintain accurate enrollment, personnel, and licensing records.
• Address parent concerns, employee issues, and disciplinary matters professionally and effectively.
• Monitor classroom environments, curriculum implementation, and quality of care.
• Maintain positive relationships with families, employees, and community partners.
• Assist with enrollment, tuition management, and administrative responsibilities.
• Ensure staff accountability, professionalism, and consistent enforcement of center policies.
• Support the center's participation in Kentucky All STARS and other quality improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with upper management to meet operational goals and maintain high standards throughout the center.

Qualifications

• Previous childcare management or leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Must meet Kentucky's qualifications for a licensed childcare center director.
• Strong knowledge of Kentucky childcare licensing regulations and requirements.
• Experience supervising employees, managing schedules, and maintaining classroom ratios.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle challenging situations professionally and make sound decisions.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support, and hold staff accountable.
• Must be dependable, flexible, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities.
• Must successfully complete all required background checks and training requirements.
