Child Care Assistant Teacher

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
• Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest periods to ensure safety and well-being
• Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and applying behavior management techniques
• Help with child supervision during transitions and special events to maintain a structured environment
• Communicate effectively with parents about their child's progress, daily activities, and any concerns
• Follow mandated reporting laws to report any signs of neglect or abuse promptly and appropriately
• Support classroom organization by preparing materials, cleaning up after activities, and maintaining a tidy learning space

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings is preferred
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
• Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire) including pediatric first aid is required
• Experience working with children with disabilities or in special education settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills for effective parent interaction and team collaboration
• Ability to manage classroom behavior with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement
• Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and child safety protocols
• Passion for nurturing young children’s growth through engaging teaching methods and caregiving

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
