Looking for a meaningful job where you can learn, grow, and make a difference?
The Red Barn is hiring a caring and dependable Assistant Teacher to support our classrooms and help create a safe, positive, and engaging environment for young children.
We’re looking for someone who is:
At least 18 years old- Dependable, punctual, patient, and positive
- Comfortable actively playing and engaging with children
- Able to work as part of a teaching team
- Willing to learn and grow in early childhood education
- Previous child-care experience is helpful, but not required
- High school diploma or GED required
Licensing & Employment Requirements:
Must meet all Tennessee Department of Human Services child-care licensing requirements- Must successfully complete required criminal background and fingerprint checks before beginning work with children
- Must complete required DHS pre-service and ongoing annual training
- Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification within required timelines
- Must successfully complete Red Barn’s pre-employment drug screening
- Must meet all health and employment requirements applicable to the position
Physical Requirements:
This is an active position. Employees must be able to:
Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and sit on the floorThis is an active position. Employees must be able to:
- Get up and down from the floor throughout the day
- Lift and carry children and classroom materials as needed
- Safely lift up to approximately 40 pounds
- Push, pull, and move classroom equipment
- Participate in indoor and outdoor play and activities
- Respond quickly during emergencies
- Maintain visual and auditory awareness of children at all times
