About The Hive & Hub

The Hive & Hub is a new premium family childcare program with an anticipated opening in October 2026. We are currently building our founding teaching team and are seeking educators who value meaningful relationships, individualized attention, and high-quality early learning experiences.

As a new program, our teaching team will play an important role in establishing a warm, professional, and relationship-based childcare environment from the beginning.

We are seeking a dependable, nurturing, and passionate Assistant Teacher to join our founding teaching team. This role is ideal for an early childhood educator who values a calm classroom environment, meaningful interactions with children, and the opportunity to contribute to building a high-quality small-group childcare program.

Position Overview

The On-Call Assistant Teacher provides coverage when the primary Assistant Teacher is unavailable to work their scheduled shift. In this role, they support the Lead Teacher in providing high-quality care and early learning experiences for infants and toddlers, while also assisting with the daily care and supervision of preschool-age children enrolled in the before- and after-school program.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of The Hive & Hub’s early learning curriculum for infants and toddlers
• Assist with activities that promote children’s social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development
• Provide nurturing care including feeding, diapering, transitions, and daily routines
• Engage children through play, exploration, and age-appropriate activities
• Support supervision and engagement of preschool-age children during before- and after-school hours
• Encourage positive peer interactions, independence, and confidence
• Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom organization, preparation, and daily routines
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment
• Follow Washington State childcare licensing requirements and health and safety practices
• Communicate professionally with children, families, and team members
• Provide temporary Lead Teacher coverage when needed, supporting classroom routines, curriculum implementation, and continuity of care within the scope of the employee’s qualifications and applicable Washington State DCYF licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience working with infants, toddlers, required and preschool-aged children preferred
• Knowledge of early childhood development and classroom practices
• Strong communication, reliability, and professionalism
• Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
• Completion of required Washington State childcare training
• Successful completion of required background check and licensing requirements
