Assistant Director, Child Care Center

Job Overview

The Assistant Director of the Child Care Center plays a vital role in supporting the overall management and operation of the facility. This position involves assisting the center director with daily responsibilities, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. The Assistant Director is expected to learn the ins and outs of the director’s role to effectively support leadership functions and contribute to the center’s success.

Responsibilities

• Assist the center director in managing daily operations, including staff coordination, program implementation, and maintaining compliance with licensing standards.
• Support staff in delivering high-quality care and educational activities tailored to children's developmental needs.
• Help oversee safety procedures and ensure a secure environment for children and staff.
• Participate in planning and executing center activities, events, and parent engagement initiatives.
• Learn the responsibilities of the director to eventually assume leadership duties as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional workplace culture.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as record keeping, scheduling, and communication with parents.

Experience

• Prior experience working in early childhood education or child care settings is strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to learn operational procedures quickly.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, parents, staff, and community partners.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn the ins and outs of child care management from the director.
