Assistant Director - Child Care Center

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate curricula that support childhood growth and learning.
• Oversee daily center operations, ensuring adherence to licensing standards, safety protocols, and educational regulations.
• Lead and supervise staff, including teachers and administrative personnel, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement.
• Facilitate professional development sessions for staff to enhance instructional practices and promote best practices in early childhood education.
• Evaluate faculty performance through regular assessments, providing constructive feedback to promote excellence in instruction.
• Engage with families through effective communication, school events, and public speaking opportunities to foster strong community relationships.

Qualifications

• Have two or more years of child care center management experience.
• Possess the California state-specific Administrative or Director credential, as well as any other state-specific guidelines for the role.
• Hold a degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field.
• Meet California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22 qualifications for Child Care.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of state licensing rules and regulations.
• Possess a valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Possess a valid California Preventive Health, Safety & Nutrition certificate.
• Possess a current Mandated Reporter Certificate.
• Possess an Infant/Toddler Development & Care units.
• Has a current or pass CDSS Background check certification.
• Possess a Food Manager certification (required).
• Had experience in mentoring teachers (required).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds to support children and various needs in classroom / center.
• Ability to bend and squat to interact with children.

There are applicable state licensing requirements for the role.
