Position Summary

We are seeking a loving, patient, energetic, and dependable Assistant Two-Year-Old Teacher to join our team at Theo’s Theory Preschool and Childcare Center #2. The Assistant Teacher will work alongside the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for two-year-old children. This position supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through creative learning, play, daily routines, and positive interactions.

Our goal is to create a classroom where children feel loved, supported, and encouraged to learn while incorporating our Christian values into their daily experiences.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher with planning and implementing daily lesson plans and age-appropriate activities.
• Provide attentive supervision and maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom.
• Help children develop language, social skills, independence, and positive behaviors.
• Assist with potty training, diapering, handwashing, and other personal care needs.
• Support children during meals, snacks, nap time, and transitions throughout the day.
• Encourage learning through music, movement, stories, sensory play, art, and hands-on activities.
• Follow all Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) childcare licensing regulations and center policies.
• Maintain appropriate classroom ratios and actively supervise children at all times.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents, coworkers, and leadership.
• Assist with cleaning, sanitizing toys, and maintaining classroom supplies.
• Complete daily documentation, including activities, meals, diapering, and other required records.
• Use positive guidance and redirection to help children learn appropriate classroom behaviors.
• Support a loving classroom environment that reflects the values and mission of Theo’s Theory.

Qualifications

• A genuine love for working with young children.
• Patience, dependability, a positive attitude, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with the Lead Teacher and other staff members.
• Willingness to learn and follow childcare policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures.
• Ability to meet applicable Kansas childcare employment, background check, and training requirements.
• Previous childcare experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry young children when necessary.
• Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, stand, and actively participate in classroom activities.
• Ability to respond promptly to children’s safety and supervision needs.

Work Environment

The Assistant Two-Year-Old Teacher works in a busy childcare classroom serving children approximately two years of age. The position requires teamwork, flexibility, active supervision, and a commitment to providing quality care and education.
